How do I find a book when I can't seem to remember the title or author and Google has been of no help to me?

It can be difficult to remember the title or author of a book you read a long time ago, even if it was a book that was really special to you. 

The first step is to write down everything you can remember about the book: plot, character names, year you read it, when it was published, genre, color of the cover, etc. All of these details you can remember are clues that can help us identify the title and author of the book. Don't be discouraged if you don't remember much. We can still give it a try.

If you have exhausted Google, here are a few alternatives to try:

What’s the Name of That Book?
A Goodreads group with searchable discussion posts and thousands of questions and answers.

Name That Book
A LibraryThing group of over 3k members, many of which are librarians who help solve book mysteries via threaded discussions.  

Whatsthatbook thread by Reddit
A nearly endless thread of users trying to help each other remember book titles.

"Stump the Bookseller" blog
An Indie bookstore in Ohio, Loganberry Books, that has extensive, searchable archives and offers a $4 service fee for personalized help.
